TAMPA BAY, FL - Nashville SC picked up the second win of their preseason camp, beating Montreal Impact 1-0. The victory came courtesy of Dom Badji, who headed home a cross from Taylor Washington in the 78th minute to secure the result.
Head coach Gary Smith stuck with the core of players that he's labelled "group one". Dax McCarty and Aníbal Godoy continued their partnership in midfield, while the backline remained unchanged. Derrick Jones got the start in the 10 role, with Hany Mukhtar rested with minor illness.
Smith kept his starters on after the half for the first time this preseason, making just two changes, with Badji and David Accam on for Daniel Ríos and Alan Winn.
In his post match press conference, Smith was pleased with the performance of his group, noting that they were able to create chances in the second half on tired legs.
It was Badji who got the eventual winner, heading home after substitute Taylor Washington's cross found him in the box. With the goal, all three of Nashville's strikers have found the net in the last two matches, and Nashville are on a streak of two wins in a row. They'll take on FC Cincinnati on Sunday in their penultimate preseason contest.
