Matt Pickens Named USL Championship Goalkeeper Of The Year

TAMPA, FL - Nashville SC's Matt Pickens was announced as the USL Championship Goalkeeper Of The Year on Tuesday, winning 54% of the vote to claim the award.

In his 16th professional season, the 37-year-old player/coach added the award a trophy cabinet that already contained the 2019 Golden Glove for his 0.64 goals against average over 25 regular season matches.

Pickens saved 79.8% of shots he faced during the regular season, and led the league with 14 clean sheets. He also kept the 100th clean sheet of his career.

Pickens will continue with Nashville SC in 2020 in his role as the goalkeeper coach, and has not ruled out the possibility of extending his career.

The USL Championship will announce the rest of their 2019 awards this week, including Defender of the Year, Coach of the Year and League MVP.
