NASHVILLE, TN - Nashville SC once again delayed their flight to Orlando for the MLSisBack Tournament on Thursday night. After a team member received a positive Covid-19 test Tuesday, they initially cancelled their flight Wednesday afternoon to conduct follow-up testing. The club had scheduled a charter flight to depart Nashville at 8PM central, but according to a report from The Athletic's Paul Tenorio, they did not receive the results in time, leaving players stranded on buses for an hour and a half before ultimately cancelling.
Late Thursday night the club released the following statement:
“Nashville Soccer Club was unable to travel to Orlando, Fla. tonight as all results from the pre-travel screening tests had not been received at the scheduled time of departure. Nashville SC will now depart midday on Friday, July 3, pending receipt of all COVID-19 test results.”
Nashville is now scheduled to depart for Orlando at noon central time, assuming Covid-19 test results return. Major League Soccer announced Thursday night that six staff and players tested positive out of 855 tests conducted between July 1-2. Nashville SC is scheduled to play Chicago Fire Wednesday, July 8. They currently have not trained for four days.
