Nashville SC won't travel to Orlando today after a member of the team tested positive for Covid-19 on Tuesday. First reported by The Athletic's Sam Stejskal and Paul Tenorio, NSC plans to delay their charter flight to Orlando until tomorrow.
Nashville is scheduled to play their first match of the MLSisBack Tournament on Wednesday, July 8 against Chicago Fire. Per Stejskal's report, the club will delay their flight to Orlando until Thursday.
MLS confirmed that six players have tested positive since arriving in Orlando after 3rd Degree reported that six FC Dallas players tested positive since arriving in Orlando. ESPN's Taylor Twellman confirmed that the players tested positive upon arrival and were immediately put into quarantine.
While the numbers look bad on the surface, it's worth noting that all positive cases in Orlando remain limited to a single team, who promptly quarantined. With tests increasing in regularity, positive tests shouldn't come as a surprise. Now all that's left to do is wait and see if MLS's protocols can limit the spread of the virus between players and teams while in the "bubble".
