Nashville SC Will Play In MLS Western Conference In 2020

NASHVILLE, TN - Nashville SC will begin their time in Major League Soccer in the Western Conference, the league announced Monday. With 89 days to go before the 2020 season kicks off, the league announced the new conference alignments with expansion sides Inter Miami CF and Nashville SC joining the competition.

Teams will continue to play a 34 match regular season, playing 17 at home and 17 on the road.

Playing in the Western Conference will mean longer road trips, with 568 miles between Nashville and Sporting Kansas City, the nearest in-conference opponent. However, CEO Ian Ayre stated in an August interview with WSM's SportsNight that the club expects to spend one year in the West before moving to the East after Austin FC joins in 2021.

Playing in the West guarantees home matches against MLS Cup champions Seattle Sounders, Supporters Shield champions LAFC, and star studded LA Galaxy. Nashville will begin their season at home on February 29 against Eastern Conference side Atlanta United.
