Nashville SC To Play Open Cup Matches In Murfreesboro

U.S. Soccer announced matchup pairings and host scenarios for the Second Round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on Wednesday. Nashville SC has been selected to host the winner of the First Round match Chattanooga Red Wolves SC (USL League One) and South Georgia Tormenta FC 2 (USL League Two).

Nashville SC confirmed that the match will take places on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, TN, 37 miles south of Nashville, at the Dean A. Hayes Track & Soccer Stadium. The stadium is the home of MTSU's women's soccer team, has been active since 2007 with a seating capacity of 1,500.

Nashville SC intends to play all 2019 U.S. Open Cup matches on campus at MTSU. The club declined to comment when asked if later-round matches could be played at MTSU's Johnny "Red" Floyd Stadium, which is home to MTSU's football team and seats 30,788.

All Second Round matches will take place on May 13 or 14, although the specific date and time of Nashville SC's match has yet to be confirmed. The match will be the first Nashville SC match to be played outside of the city of Nashville. Last season, USL matches were played at First Tennessee Park or Nissan Stadium. The club played their Second and Third Round Open Cup matches at Vanderbilt's soccer complex, before hosting their Fourth Round match against MLS side Colorado Rapids at the much larger Vanderbilt Stadium. They beat Colorado to advance to the Round of 16, where they lost 2-1 away to Louisville City.
