Power Rankings Week 21

This method of ranking team performance factors in point per game, strength of schedule, and goal difference. This isn't an attempt to predict the final table, but rather a way to measure a team's form.

  1. NYRB II (↑1): Got a massive 2-0 win over Tampa Bay to move to the top spot. Currently on a six match unbeaten streak and have scored the second-most goals in all USL.

  2. Tampa Bay Rowdies (↓1): Lost just their second match all year to drop into second place.

  3. Nashville SC (↑2): A huge 2-0 win at home over Indy Eleven pushes them into third place. They've played the second fewest home matches in the East this season, and are positioned in good shape to make a late push up the table.

  4. Pittsburgh Riverhounds (↔): Hung on for a 4-2 win in a wild match in Hartford. Who would have thought that Pittsburgh would have one of the best attacks in the conference?

  5. North Carolina FC (↑1): Beat Atlanta 4-2 to move up a spot.

  6. Indy Eleven (↓3): Drop three spots with the loss in Nashville, although spots 3-6 are so tight that a 3-spot drop shouldn't be too concerning.

  7. Ottawa Fury FC (↔): Beaten 2-0 in Memphis, but hang onto seventh place.

  8. Louisville City FC (↔): Beaten badly by Loudon. They had enough of a cushion to hold onto eight place, but their recent form is worrying.

  9. Charleston Battery (↔): Their match against Swope Park was postponed after the team bus crashed on the way to their match. Fortunately, no players were seriously injured.

  10. Saint Louis FC (↔): Beat Bethlehem 3-0 for their first win in nine matches.

  11. Loudoun United FC (↑2): Jump up two spots after a huge 3-0 win over Louisville. They've only played five home matches, and look poised to challenge for a playoff spot towards the end of the season.

  12. Charlotte Independence (↓1): Drew Atlanta and lost to Birmingham Legion to drop a spot.

  13. Memphis 901 FC (↑1): Continue their good form with a surprise 2-0 win over Ottawa. Showing signs of life.

  14. Bethlehem Steel (↓1): Beaten handily by Saint Louis.

  15. Birmingham Legion FC (↔): Got a much needed win over Charlotte to hold onto 15th place.

  16. Swope Park Rangers (↔): Their match against Charleston was postponed.

  17. Hartford Athletic (↑1): Lost 4-2 to Pittsburgh. They're not the worst team in the league, but no matter what they seem to do, they can't get a win.

  18. Atlanta United 2 (↓1): Held to a draw by Charlotte and then thrashed by North Carolina. They've conceded 28 goals, the most in the conference.

  1. Phoenix Rising FC (↔): Held to a single goal on the road by a 10-man Tulsa side. A little ironic that a 1-0 win is a sub-par result, but it's hard to complain when they've won a record-setting 11 straight matches.

  2. Reno 1868 FC (↔): Beaten 4-1 by Orange County midweek, but rebounded with a 4-0 win over Colorado Springs.

  3. Fresno FC (↓1): Beaten 1-0 by Austin to drop into third.

  4. Real Monarchs SLC (↔): Hold onto fourth after losing 3-1 to San Antonio.

  5. Sacramento Republic FC (↔): Not a great week for the Republic. Lost 2-1 to New Mexico and drew 0-0 with Orange County. After some positive momentum in recent weeks, it was a disappointing stretch for Sacramento.

  6. Portland Timbers 2 (↔): Beaten 2-1 at home by a resurging Galaxy II side.

  7. New Mexico United (↔): They've finally started to regain some form after a rough stretch of results. Beat Sacramento on the road for a much needed win.

  8. San Antonio FC (↑1): Move up a spot after a 3-1 win over Real Monarchs.

  9. El Paso Locomotive FC (↓1): No match this week.

  10. Austin Bold FC (↑1): Up a spot after a really good win over Fresno.

  11. Orange County SC (↑3): A really good week for OCSC. Smashed Reno 4-1 before drawing with Sacramento.

  12. Las Vegas Lights FC (↓2): Drop two spots after a shocking 4-1 loss to Tacoma. Rebounded a bit with a 2-1 win over RGV Toros, but the loss made a big dent on their ranking.

  13. OKC Energy (↔): Hold steady with a 2-0 win over Tacoma.

  14. Rio Grande Valley FC (↓2): Drop two spots with a loss to Las Vegas.

  15. LA Galaxy II (↔): Wins over Tulsa and Portland see them gain some ground in the playoff race.

  16. Tulsa Roughnecks FC (↔): Lost to LA and Phoenix to stay in 16th.

  17. CS Switchbacks FC (↔): Smashed by Reno. After some promising results earlier in the year, they're turning out to be a solidly poor team.

  18. Tacoma Defiance (↔): A 4-1 win over Las Vegas gave them a bit of a bump, but they reverted back to the mean with a 2-0 loss to OKC Energy. It's impossible to take them seriously when they concede 2.48 goals a game.
