Power Rankings Week 24

This method of ranking team performance factors in point per game, strength of schedule, and goal difference. This isn't an attempt to predict the final table, but rather a way to measure a team's form.

  1. NYRB II (↔): Lost 2-1 midweek at home to Pittsburgh, but had enough cushion to retain the top spot.

  2. Tampa Bay Rowdies (↔): Didn't play this week, and still have a game in hand on New York and Nashville.

  3. Nashville SC (↔): Picked up three essential points in Charlotte. Their midweek match against NYRBII has huge implications for how the table looks at the end of the year.

  4. North Carolina FC (↑2): Exploded into the top four with a 5-0 demolition of Pittsburgh. They've gone without a lot of hype, but have quietly been one of the best teams in the East.

  5. Indy Eleven (↔): Held on for a 2-1 win at home against a tricky Saint Louis side.

  6. Pittsburgh Riverhounds (↓2): After starting the week strong with a win on the road in New York, a second half collapse against North Carolina saw them lost 5-0. It's likely just a blip for a team who's been in great form, but it's not a flattering result by any means.

  7. Ottawa Fury FC (↔): Cruised to a fairly routine road win against Loudoun United.

  8. Louisville City FC (↔): A late winner away to Charleston saw the defending champions pick up a vital three points.

  9. Saint Louis FC (↔): Were the better side for long stretches, but couldn't pick up a result in Indy. Three points out of playoff position with a game in hand on Birmingham, but they've really fallen off the wagon after a great start to the campaign.

  10. Charleston Battery (↔): Gave up the winner in the 88th minute to Louisville City. After starting off the season well, they've become wildly inconsistent.

  11. Charlotte Independence (↔): They're hanging around in the playoff race, but never really looked threatening against Nashville.

  12. Birmingham Legion FC (↑2): Got a much-needed 1-0 win at home over Memphis to stay in playoff position, but with more games played than many of the clubs around them, they'll need to put together a consistent run of matches to qualify.

  13. Bethlehem Steel (↑2): No match this week.

  14. Memphis 901 FC (↓1): Defensively they've been better, but they're still struggling to convert chances, and it's costing them points.

  15. Loudoun United FC (↓3): They're finally getting more matches at home, but the results still aren't there.

  16. Swope Park Rangers (↔): Lost on the road to Atlanta.

  17. Atlanta United 2 (↔): Picked up three points at home against Swope Park, but they're still solidly entrenched towards the bottom.

  18. Hartford Athletic (↔): No match this week.

  1. Phoenix Rising FC (↔): 15 straight wins. They're putting together one of the best ever regular seasons.

  2. Fresno FC (↔): Fought hard for a draw against Real Monarchs. In good shape with games in hand on Reno and Austin.

  3. Reno 1868 FC (↔): No shame in losing to Phoenix, and they put in a good fight, but they were never going to win in a shootout.

  4. Sacramento Republic FC (↑2): Jumped back into the top four with a 4-0 win over Colorado Springs.

  5. Real Monarchs SLC (↓1): Fifth in the table and these rankings. A draw against Fresno on the road is never an easy result, and they've really put together a consistent run in recent weeks.

  6. New Mexico United (↓1): They'll be disappointed to only get a point at home against an LA side that played with 10 men for over half the match.

  7. San Antonio FC (↔): Like New Mexico, only managed a draw at home against a really poor RGV side that played with 10 men for 60 minutes.

  8. Portland Timbers 2 (↔): Lost 4-2 at home against OKC Energy in one of the more surprising results of the year.

  9. Austin Bold FC (↑2): Smashed Tulsa 5-1 at home to jump up two spots.

  10. El Paso Locomotive FC (↓1): Beat Tacoma 2-0 at home, despite playing with only 10 men for the final 30 minutes.

  11. Orange County SC (↑2): Put in a really solid performance to win 3-0 at home against Las Vegas.

  12. OKC Energy (↑2): Went on the road to Portland and came from behind to win 4-2 in one of their better performances of the year.

  13. LA Galaxy II (↓1): Went down a man in the 41st minute and somehow managed a point on the road against New Mexico.

  14. Rio Grande Valley FC (↑1): Played with 10 men for most of the match and still fought for a draw with San Antonio.

  15. Las Vegas Lights FC (↓5): Beaten 3-0 on the road by Orange County.

  16. Tulsa Roughnecks FC (↔): Smashed 5-1 by Austin.

  17. CS Switchbacks FC (↔): Beaten 4-0 on the road by Sacramento.

  18. Tacoma Defiance (↔): Lost 2-0 against El Paso. 15 points out of playoff position with 11 matches left to play, it would take a miracle and then some to keep their season alive.
