Power Rankings Week 32

Updated: Oct 16, 2019

This method of ranking team performance factors in point per game, strength of schedule, and goal difference. This isn't an attempt to predict the final table, but rather a way to measure a team's form over the course of the season.

  1. Nashville SC (↑3): Had a fantastic week, beating Louisville and North Carolina to move into first in the rankings and within a point of first in the table.

  2. NYRB II (↓1): No match this week.

  3. Tampa Bay Rowdies (↓): Held to a 1-1 draw at home by Indy Eleven.

  4. Pittsburgh Riverhounds (↓): Scored a last minute winner in Saint Louis to stay on top of the table.

  5. Indy Eleven (↑1): Went to Tampa Bay and fought back from a goal down to hold onto a draw.

  6. Louisville City FC (↑1): Lost to a last minute winner in Nashville, and found themselves down three goals in the first half against Swope Park. Rebounded with eight unanswered goals to take all three points from their last ever match at Slugger Field.

  7. North Carolina FC (↓1): Went to Nashville and were beaten rather easily. No chance at a top four spot now, but look set to host a play-in match.

  8. Ottawa Fury FC (↔): Held to a draw at home by a resolute Bethlehem Steel side.

  9. Saint Louis FC (↔): Looked set for a huge draw at home with Pittsburgh, but conceded in the 88th minute to drop points. Two points above the playoff line with a difficult trip to North Carolina. They have their work cut out for them next weekend.

  10. Charleston Battery (↔): Beaten at home by Loudoun to make securing a playoff spot even more difficult.

  11. Loudoun United FC (↑3): Where has this team been all year? After beating Tampa Bay last week, they knocked off Saint Louis and Charleston this week. If only they could have found this form a couple weeks earlier, they might have challenged for a playoff spot.

  12. Charlotte Independence (↑1): May have just ended Memphis 901's playoff hopes, winning 2-1 in a contest that felt more like a middle school playground fight than a professional soccer match at times.

  13. Memphis 901 FC (↓1): Two losses in a row. With a match against a Louisville side fighting for a top 4 spot, it's hard to see them making the playoffs at this point.

  14. Birmingham Legion FC (↓3): Smashed 4-0 by a Hartford side that's been out of playoff contention for weeks. They'll play Pittsburgh on Sunday, a day after the rest of the league has played their final match. They'll need an impressive performance to secure a playoff spot.

  15. Bethlehem Steel (↔): Crushed by Atlanta midweek before putting in a huge performance in Ottawa to end their shot at a home playoff match.

  16. Atlanta United 2 (↑1): Beat Bethlehem 5-2 midweek in a match that had no bearing on the playoff race.

  17. Swope Park Rangers (↓1): Looked on the verge of a massive win in Louisville before allowing eight unanswered goals to revert back to form.

  18. Hartford Athletic (↔): May have just ended Birmingham's playoff force with a 4-0 win at home.

  1. Phoenix Rising FC (↔): Dropped points again, this time at home to Real Monarchs. They'll need a win in their last match to set the single-season points record.

  2. Reno 1868 FC (↔): Beat Las Vegas on the road fairly easily to hold onto second place.

  3. Fresno FC (↔): Conceded a stoppage time equalizer to drop points at home to Los Dos. Still could move into second with a result and dropped points from Reno.

  4. Real Monarchs SLC (↑1): Their good form continued with a road win over Phoenix. They have two matches left, both against playoff side, and could still move as high as second with two wins.

  5. Sacramento Republic FC (↓1): Drop a spot after dropped points to Orange County.

  6. Orange County SC (↔): Lost to Real Monarchs midweek before rebounding with a road win over Sacramento.

  7. San Antonio FC (↔): Won 4-3 in Portland to stay ahead of a New Mexico side that has a match in hand. Have a very winnable match at home against Colorado Springs this weekend, and they'll need all three points and help in other results to secure a playoff spot.

  8. El Paso Locomotive FC (↔): Drew with Austin at home. In eight place with two matches to play, they look in good shape for a playoff spot.

  9. Austin Bold FC (↑1): Drew 1-1 at home with El Paso. With two matches left, they still have an outside shot at a top four spot. They'll need to beat Real Monarchs tomorrow to make it.

  10. New Mexico United (↓1): Lost to a 10-man Tulsa side to make their path to the playoffs that much more difficult.

  11. LA Galaxy II (↔): Beaten by Colorado Springs to hold them just on the edge of the playoff line.

  12. Portland Timbers 2 (↔): Lost 4-3 at home to San Antonio. Still two matches left, but they'll need two wins and some help to make the playoffs.

  13. Las Vegas Lights FC (↔): Beaten by a better side in Reno at home.

  14. Rio Grande Valley FC (↑1): Won 2-0 on the road over OKC Energy.

  15. OKC Energy (↓1): Lost at home to RGV Toros.

  16. Tulsa Roughnecks FC (↔): Out of playoff contention for a while, but gave New Mexico's playoff hopes a setback with a 2-1 home win.

  17. CS Switchbacks FC (↔): Conceded two stoppage time goals to Tacoma for a league-worst 21st loss.

  18. Tacoma Defiance (↔): Got two late goals to secure a victory over Colorado Springs.
