NASHVILLE, TN - Nashville SC are in the market for a goalscorer, and they've narrowed their shortlist to a few candidates, including Argentine youth international Maximiliano Romero.

Romero, 21, came through the ranks at Vélez Sarsfield in Argentina, scoring nine goals in 40 appearances in the Argentine Primera División. In 2018, Romero joined Dutch Eridivisie side PSV Eindhoven in 2018, making one appearance for their senior team and 11 for their reserve side. In 2019 he returned to Sarsfield on loan at the start of the 2019/20 season, where he scored seven goals and assisted three in 25 appearances.

Romero has been capped six times by Argentina's U20 side, scoring two goals in the U-20 South American Championship in 2019.

NSC have a couple other options on their shortlist, but see Romero as a high-upside target, and have used the Covid-19 break to heavily scout the striker.

Internally, their staff is very high on striker Daniel Ríos, who was signed from Mexican side Chivas ahead of their 2019 USL Championship season. Ríos came off the bench in both of Nashville’s MLS matches, and looks set for a larger role when the club travels to Orlando for the MLS Is Back Tournament. However, after analysing their squad and assessing several targets, Nashville is ready to move on a DP forward. When and who that will be remains to be seen.
