Week 16 Power Rankings

This method of ranking team performance factors in point per game, strength of schedule, and goal difference. This isn't an attempt to predict the final table, but rather a way to measure a team's form.


  1. Tampa Bay Rowdies (↑1): Went on the road and beat a Bethlehem side that had looked decent in recent weeks.

  2. NYRB II (↓1): Beaten 3-0 by Pittsburgh to drop out of first.

  3. Indy Eleven (↔): Won a tight match at home against Atlanta to continue their good form.

  4. Nashville SC (↔): Looked on track to get three points against Ottawa before conceding a late equalizer to draw 3-3. They've scored 10 in their last three, but they're also conceding quite frequently.

  5. North Carolina FC (↔): Went to Saint Louis and came away with a well earned point. They've pushing into the upper echelon of eastern conference sides.

  6. Pittsburgh Riverhounds (↑1): Who would have thought Pittsburgh would be a dangerous attacking side? They have 10 goals in their last three matches, and dispatched a strong New York side 3-0 to push into 6th.

  7. Ottawa Fury FC (↓1): Went to Nashville and came back twice to earn a point. They drop a spot in the rankings although their score actually increased, due to Pittsburgh's big jump.

  8. Louisville City FC (↔): Held to a disappointing 1-1 draw at home to Charlotte.

  9. Charleston Battery (↔): Playing at home against a poor Swope Park side, and only managed a 1-1 draw.

  10. Saint Louis FC (↔): Held to a point at him by a good North Carolina side.

  11. Loudoun United FC (↔): No match this week.

  12. Bethlehem Steel (↔): Lost a close encounter at home to Tampa Bay.

  13. Charlotte Independence (↔): Went to Louisville and came away with a solid point.

  14. Memphis 901 FC (↔): No match this week.

  15. Atlanta United 2 (↔): Put in a good performance in Indianapolis, but couldn't take any points from the match.

  16. Swope Park Rangers (↑1): Went on the road to a really good Charleston side and earned a surprising point.

  17. Birmingham Legion FC (↓1): Drew 2-2 at home with Hartford, dropping a spot.

  18. Hartford Athletic (↔): After some impressive results recently, they'll be disappointed to only manage a point against Birmingham.


  1. Phoenix Rising FC (↔): Picked up six points and scored seven goals (while down a man for 60+ minutes) to widen the gap even further between them and the rest of the West. The hottest team in USL at the moment.

  2. Portland Timbers 2 (↑1): Won 2-0 away to Orange County to move back into second.

  3. Sacramento Republic FC (↑4): Smashed Tulsa 6-0 to move up four spots.

  4. Fresno FC (↑1): Held on for a 3-2 win against San Antonio.

  5. El Paso Locomotive FC (↓3): Drop three spots after losing at home to Las Vegas.

  6. Reno 1868 FC (↓2): Beaten 3-0 midweek by Phoenix and drop two spots.

  7. New Mexico United (↓1): Their meltdown continues. After being alone at the top just a few weeks ago, they're down to seventh after a disappointing draw with LA Galaxy II.

  8. Las Vegas Lights FC (↔): Went to El Paso and came away with a point. They've been up and down this season, but should be in the mix for a playoff spot.

  9. Real Monarchs SLC (↑2): Beat a poor Colorado side on the road.

  10. Austin Bold FC (↑2): Beat RGV on the road to keep themselves in the mix.

  11. Rio Grande Valley FC (↓2): Drop two spots after a disappointing result at home against Las Vegas.

  12. Orange County SC (↓2): Lost to Portland at home without putting up too much of a fight.

  13. OKC Energy (↔): Smashed 4-1 at home by a Phoenix side that played a man down for 61 minutes.

  14. San Antonio FC (↑1): Put up a good fight on the road against Fresno, but came away without a point.

  15. LA Galaxy II (↑1): Fought hard for a draw against New Mexico.

  16. Tulsa Roughnecks FC (↓2): Beaten 6-0 by a Sacramento side that had previously been struggling.

  17. CS Switchbacks FC (↔): Beaten at home be Real Monarchs.

  18. Tacoma Defiance (↔): No match this week.


The above power rankings are a look at current form. These projected tables are simply based on points per game at home and away. These will fluctuate a lot week-to-week.
