Week 7 Power Rankings

This method of ranking team performance factors in point per game, strength of schedule, and goal difference. It's still early in the season, and some teams have played more matches than others. This early in the season, one result can drastically alter a team's ranking, but as the season progresses the rankings will begin to steady.

  1. North Carolina FC (↑4): A 3-0 away win plus slips from the other top sides in the east sees North Carolina take the #1 spot in this week's edition.

  2. Tampa Bay Rowdies (↔): On a bye, so no change.

  3. Charleston Battery (↑4): Beat last week's #1 side 3-1 at home. They've put together a strong start to the season.

  4. Saint Louis FC (↓1): A 0-0 draw in Pittsburgh wasn't a bad result, but Saint Louis should expect more.

  5. Indy Eleven (↑7): Their earlier low ranking was primarily a result of fewer games played. They made up ground this week, with wins against Swope Park and Bethlehem Steel pushing them to fifth.

  6. NYRB II (↓3): Beat Hartford 4-0 midweek before dropping a 3-1 shocker to Loudon at home.

  7. Nashville SC (↓6): Went into Week 7 as the #1 side, and put in a disappointing performance away to Charleston. There's still a pretty big gap between them and the #8 team.

  8. Pittsburgh Riverhounds (): Held on for a 0-0 draw against highly rated Saint Louis to retain the #8 spot.

  9. Bethlehem Steel (↓5): Losses to Charlotte and Indy see them drop five spots.

  10. Atlanta United 2 (↓1): No game this week, so their drop is nothing to worry about.

  11. Birmingham Legion FC (↔): Would have wanted more than a 0-0 draw at home to Swope Park.

  12. Louisville City FC (↑2): Squeezed out a 1-0 win at home against Ottawa. They should turn out to be better than their early season rankings.

  13. Ottawa Fury FC (↓2): Lost 1-0 to Louisville.

  14. Charlotte Independence (↓1): Got a good win against Bethlehem midweek before losing 3-0 at home to North Carolina.

  15. Loudoun United FC (↑2): Pulled off one of the week's more surprising results, winning 3-1 away to NYRB II.

  16. Memphis 901 FC (↓1): On a bye this week.

  17. Swope Park Rangers (↓1): Lost 3-1 at home to Indy and drew 0-0 in Birmingham.

  18. Hartford Athletic (↔): Dropped a 4-0 loss in New York midweek. They're really bad.

  1. Portland Timbers 2 (): Drew Colorado Springs 2-2 at home, but hold onto the top spot.

  2. Reno 1868 FC (↑4): Move into second after a strong win against New Mexico.

  3. New Mexico United (↓1): Lost away to Reno. Still really close to the top.

  4. Fresno FC (↓1): No game this week.

  5. Sacramento Republic FC (↓1): Also no game this week.

  6. Real Monarchs SLC (↔): Won 3-2 against San Antonio.

  7. Phoenix Rising FC (↔): Lost to Austin midweek before expectedly beating Tacamo 4-0 on the weekend.

  8. Rio Grande Valley FC (↑8): Got a big 5-2 win against Las Vegas to jump up eight spots.

  9. Tulsa Roughnecks FC (↓1): Didn't play this weekend.

  10. OKC Energy (↑3): Beat Orange County and jumped up three spots.

  11. Austin Bold FC (↑4): Beat Phoenix midweek before drawing 0-0 with El Paso.

  12. San Antonio FC (↓2): Dropped a 3-2 loss at Real Monarchs. They've had a fairly disappointing start to the season.

  13. CS Switchbacks FC (↑1): A solid draw away to Portland sees them move up a spot.

  14. LA Galaxy II (↓2): No game this week.

  15. Orange County SC (↓4): Lost away to OKC Energy. They had high expectations heading into 2019, and haven't lived up to the hype.

  16. Las Vegas Lights FC (↓7): Plumet 7 spots after a 5-2 loss to then 16th ranked RGV Toros.

  17. El Paso Locomotive FC (↔): 0-0 draw with Austin doesn't really help their ranking.

  18. Tacoma Defiance (↔): Lost 4-0 to Phoenix. They've managed two wins, but their six losses and -19 goal difference is killing them.
