Week 8 Power Rankings

This method of ranking team performance factors in point per game, strength of schedule, and goal difference. This isn't an attempt to predict the final table, but rather a way to measure a team's form.

  1. Tampa Bay Rowdies (↑1): Got a really good result in Atlanta, winning 4-1, before drawing Charlotte 1-1 at home. The only unbeaten side in the East.

  2. NYRB II (↑4): Came back to beat a really good Indy Eleven side 2-1 at home.

  3. North Carolina FC (↓3): Dropped three spots, despite winning 4-1. Unfortunately, that win came against Hartford who are so bad that a win against them doesn't mean a whole lot.

  4. Saint Louis FC (↔): Still in 4th after a 3-1 win over Swope Park.

  5. Charleston Battery (↓2): Pulled off a 1-0 win away in Memphis.

  6. Indy Eleven (↔): Lost a pretty even match in New Jersey. They're moving up the rankings after a slow start to the season.

  7. Nashville SC (↔): Held Pittsburgh without a shot on goal for 87 minutes, and then conceded twice in four minutes to draw 2-2.

  8. Pittsburgh Riverhounds (↔): Came back to rescue a 2-2 draw at home to Nashville.

  9. Bethlehem Steel (↔): Didn't play this week.

  10. Birmingham Legion FC (↑1): Beat Loudoun 1-0 at home.

  11. Ottawa Fury FC (↑2): Won 2-0 at home against an inconsistent but tricky Atlanta side.

  12. Louisville City FC (↔): Didn't play this week.

  13. Charlotte Independence (↑1): Move up a spot after grinding out a 1-1 draw on the road in Tampa Bay.

  14. Atlanta United 2 (↓4): Lost 4-1 at home to Tampa Bay midweek before losing to Ottawa on the road.

  15. Memphis 901 FC (↑1): Move up a spot, partially due to a close-fought loss to Charleston, and also because teams around them dropped.

  16. Loudoun United FC (↓1): Lost on the road to Birmingham with no

  17. Swope Park Rangers (↔): Lost again, this time to Saint Louis.

  18. Hartford Athletic (↔): On track to be the worst team in USL history. Gave up another four goals this week, bringing their goal difference to -18.

  1. Portland Timbers 2 (↔): Retain the top spot in the West after a wild 3-3 draw in New Mexico.

  2. New Mexico United (↑1): Drew 3-3 with Portland at home. One of the best attacks in the conference.

  3. Sacramento Republic FC (↑2): Move up two spots after drawing Phoenix 0-0 at home.

  4. Phoenix Rising FC (↑3): Drew 0-0 with Sacramento in a good result for both sides.

  5. Fresno FC (↓1): Drop a spot after a 2-2 draw with Orange County. Currently in 12th in the table, but they've played the fewest matches in the conference and are the only unbeaten side in the West.

  6. Reno 1868 FC (↓4): Lost on the road to El Paso.

  7. Real Monarchs SLC (↓1): Dropped a 3-2 loss in Austin.

  8. Tulsa Roughnecks FC (↑1): Beat Colorado Springs 2-0 midweek before pulling off a 1-0 win against OKC Energy. Tied with New Mexico for the most goals scored in the West.

  9. Austin Bold FC (↑2): Pulled off a strong 3-2 win against Real Monarchs.

  10. Rio Grande Valley FC (↓2): Drew Los Dos in an insane 4-4 match in Los Angeles.

  11. OKC Energy (↓1): Drop a spot after a 1-1 draw in Tulsa.

  12. San Antonio FC (↔): Still in 12th despite a 3-0 win. Beating Tacoma doesn't do much for a teams ranking at this point.

  13. Orange County SC (↑2): Move up two spots after drawing Fresno on the road.

  14. LA Galaxy II (↔): Drew 4-4 at home to RGV Toros. They've really fallen off after a strong start.

  15. El Paso Locomotive FC (↑2): Up to 15th after a 1-0 win against Reno.

  16. CS Switchbacks FC (↓1): Lost to Tulsa and drop a spot.

  17. Las Vegas Lights FC (↓1): Didn't play this week.

  18. Tacoma Defiance (↔): Not much to say about this team. They give up 2.4 goals per game and have a -22 goal difference after nine games.
